My Latest Work Had A First Screening

One of my most recent works as a cinematographer just had its first screening in LA!

Yoontaek is an award-winning documentary director who wrote a script called In the Afternoon Only back in April. A group of five including an actor shot this 3-page script in a single day. The film is super short, around 5 minutes, and giving away the storyline would take away the joy, so without spoiling anything, it deals with grief and we tried to capture that nuance process as authentically as possible.

As far as cinematography goes, we strictly worked within the visual language we discussed beforehand, and as a whole, I believe we achieved a style that feels tightly connected to the context and theme of the film. (Sorry I can't get too much details on it because I want you to watch it in the future screenings.)

The screening was at the Great Film Club in LA as part of AAPI Night. It was a great experience hearing first-time viewers' impressions and getting to watch it on a bigger screen in an actual theater.

The Great Film Club hosts a weekly film screening. It's a great place to meet other filmmakers in town and watch the various films they curate!
